The Scene
Behind the silk-draped windows is an elegant, heavily embroidered world where tapestries, pillows, layers of rugs and brass fixtures wrap the spacious restaurant in exotic coziness. Silk-robed servers arrive with a silver hand-washing pitcher and the romantic picture is complete. Service is impeccable, kind and as educational as needed: First-time Moroccan diners shouldn't hesitate to ask for information or whatever else is desired.
The Food Meals are fixed price, ranging from two to five courses. Nearly everything combines sweet with savory: Bastilla blends chicken and ground almonds with cinnamon, powdered sugar and phyllo, kefta features outstanding cinnamon-infused meatballs topped with poached eggs, and chicken topped with soft golden raisins supplies rich mouthfuls of juice. Brochettes of lamb, chicken and beef have a smoky grilled tenderness that's a true omnivore's delight. Sugary mint tea and rich almond cake end the meal on a very satisfying note. |
