The Specs
"The Egyptian" is an Egyptian inspired café and hooka bar in the heart of Broad Ripple in Indianapolis. Many elements are modeled off the most famous coffee shop in Egypt, "El Fishawy". "El Fishawy" is located in the Khan El-Khalili district in Old Cairo and has been running 24 hours a day since 1773. It has been frequented by many generations of famous Egyptian artists and writers. All furniture and hooka pipes in "The Egyptian" have been handmade and imported from Cairo, Egypt.
The city's best-dressed Egyptian cafe opened in mid-January at a choice Broad Ripple address that it makes the most of by staying open late and offering flavored tobacco and hookas, Turkish coffee and backgammon. The smoking sanction makes the restaurant an 18-and-older destination, and the made-from-scratch dishes make it a great choice for a meal, be it noon or midnight.
