The Scene
Restaurants sporting belly dancers and hookah pipes are all the rage in the Triangle these days as evidenced by several Raleigh establishments already utilizing these elements to pack in the crowds. Now Chapel Hill has entered the picture with the opening of Aladdin?s. But while the hookah (which starts after dinner) and the belly dancers (which begin at 10PM on Thursdays and Fridays) are a prime after-hours attraction, it?s really the food that shines at this Turkish restaurant. Students, as well as professorial types, come for the mostly-vegetarian lunch buffet at a bargain price of $7.95. At dinner, diners begin with oven-fresh pita bread and fresh hummus or baba ghanoush for starters, followed by minty tabbouleh, stuffed grape leaves, chickpea salad, lamb curry, vegetable stew and Mediterranean-style pizzas. For a little bit of everything, try the mezze platter for $10.50 ? the most expensive thing on the menu. Aladdin?s also carries all ABC permits and offers full-service catering. |
